The CILEX Level 6 Higher Diploma in Law and Practice is the final academic stage on the route to becoming a Chartered Legal Executive. It builds on Level 3 study and requires candidates to demonstrate detailed legal knowledge across specified law subjects, practical understanding in at least one practice area, and professional legal skills through mandatory skills units.
Following completion of the academic requirements, holder of the CILEX Level 6 Level 6 Higher Diploma in Law and Practice will need to complete subsequent steps to become a Chartered Legal Executive and obtain practice rights. These steps include completion of qualifying work experience and a demonstration of competence through a portfolio of evidence, as well as making an application for practice rights (additional requirements for litigation routes). Please see full details on the CILEX Regulation website. The last date for submitting a legacy portfolio application is 31 December 2027.
