Alexis Grant – pursuing a legal career without university

Despite having an unconditional offer from five universities, Alexis chose not to attend. Her passion for conveyancing, fuelled by her work experience, drove her to seek a different path with a CLC qualification.

Alexis discovered Law Training Centre after taking out extensive research online. She reached out to current learners and professionals and found that Law Training Centre was highly recommended. The decision to study with us aligned perfectly with her career aspirations and provided her with the flexibility she needed to succeed.

One major benefit Alexis was keen to highlight was the absence of student debt. Unlike traditional university routes that come with hefty tuition and accommodation fees, Law Training Centre’s CLC qualifications allowed Alexis to stay home, work, and gain practical experience simultaneously. “I’ve stayed at home the last couple of years, worked alongside the course, and got experience in a law firm with clients, solicitors and other legal assistants,” she explained.

Working in conveyancing whilst studying provided Alexis with invaluable practical experience. She emphasises how this practical approach allowed her to progress from an administrative assistant to a conveyancing executive: “I’ve been able to progress my career, build up my client base, and actually put some of the things that I’ve learned while studying into practice in real life.”

The supportive environment at Law Training Centre has been crucial for Alexis. She praises the responsive tutor support, which ensures she gets the help she needs when she needs it. Learning at her own pace has also allowed her to achieve steady goals without feeling overwhelmed: “It’s good because you can prioritise what you spend a lot of time on, what you need to dedicate a lot of time to.”

Having completed her CLC Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice, Alexis plans to pursue her Level 6 Diploma and possibly further studies with the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) or a course in Wills and Probate.

The Level 4 qualification has helped my career because it means that when I speak to clients, and when I advise clients, and when I’m running a transaction, I know what I’m taking about. It just helps you put law into practice.
