The Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice consists of five units to complete:

What exemptions are available?
Exemptions are available based on Accredited Prior Learning or Professional Experience:
- Accredited Prior Learning (APL): Over 500 learners have benefitted from exemptions for their recognised APL. To discuss possible exemptions for SQE, CILEX L3 and L6, LLB, GDL, BA in Law, LLM, LPC, certain international LLBs, paralegal qualifications such NALP, IOP, CLT, STEP or any other legal qualifications please email us with the details of the qualifications you hold (ideally your transcript) and our academic team will gladly assess and advise you further. This is a free service.
- Professional Experience: If you have no previous legal qualifications but have at least 4 years continuous experience in conveyancing or probate, you may be able to apply for an exemption from Level 4. Please see the CLC website for eligibility criteria and the application process.

Law Graduate Fast Track Exemption
Got a recognised law degree? Your qualification pathway could be even quicker!
The CLC route offers a Law Graduate Fast Track Exemption, allowing individuals with a recognised law degree to bypass Level 4 and progress quickly towards qualifying with a CLC licence to practise in conveyancing or probate.
Law graduate two-step pathway:
- Complete the CLC Level 6 Diploma in Conveyancing or Probate
- Undergo 24 months of supervised practical work experience

Sharing their insight into the qualification route, our special guests were able to explain the process of qualifying via the CLC Level 4 Diploma, how Practical Experience works, and the importance of taking this first step towards a successful legal career.
How long does it take?
The total qualification time (TQT) is a term used for qualification regulated by Ofqual and is the total number of hours it is estimated that an average learner will take to complete a qualification.
The TQT for the Level 4 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice is 500 hours. This is broken down as follows:
- English Legal System: 64 hours
- Law of Contract: 120 hours
- Land Law: 120 hours
- Standard Conveyancing Transactions: 120 hours
- Understanding accounting procedures for Conveyancing Transactions: 76 hours.
With 1 year of access for units purchased individually and 2 years of access for all 5 units, you are provided with the flexibility to complete your studies around work and other commitments.
Course fees and enrolment
Our CLC Diplomas are run according to monthly cohorts. Learners can enrol at any time throughout the month, and will be given access to the course following receipt of payment.
If payment is not made within the selected cohort period, learners will be charged the following cohort price and can start their studies in the next cohort.
March Cohort: £2,700
Available to enrol until Friday 3 April 2026.
Enrolment forms must be received by 15:00 on the final day of the cohort.
Learner enrolments are only confirmed once payment has been received in full.
Where payment is not received within the relevant cohort window, the enrolment will lapse and no place or price will be held. Learners who wish to proceed will need to enrol again and will be charged the cohort price applicable at the time of re-enrolment, with course access commencing in the next available cohort.
Course access period is 24 months from the date course access is granted.

Payments and instalments
Payments can be made by bank transfer or by card online. If taking advantage of our interest free instalment plan, a Direct Debit must be set up as part of the enrolment process and be kept in place until all payments have been made. Please note that failed Direct Debit payments will result in an administrative charge of £25.00 being made and course access suspended.

Course fees are subject to UK VAT.
Prices shown for individual learners include VAT at the applicable rate.
