The Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) regulates immigration advisers to ensure they are fit and competent, providing good practice and protecting clients from poor advice and exploitation.
Law Training Centre’s IAA Level 1 Training Course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the UK immigration system and the role of an immigration adviser. It covers the key areas of immigration law, including entry clearance, leave to remain, and asylum and human rights applications. Participants will also learn about the IAA Code of Standards and the ethical considerations involved in providing immigration advice.
Our unique on demand course structure provided lectures, practice questions and revision resources to prepare you for your IAA Level 1 assessment.
Who is the course for?
The IAA Level 1 course is ideal for individuals looking to provide basic immigration advice and services. It’s suited for those starting in immigration advisory roles or seeking foundational knowledge in UK immigration laws. You do not need to hold a degree, do the SQE or be a solicitor.
In order to take the assessment you must first be registered. Please ensure that you review the IAA registration process and guidance to assess your eligibility to register.
You should normally have at least 3 months full time or the equivalent part time experience of providing UK immigration advice and services or 6 months full time or the equivalent part time experience of non-immigration advice giving (such as Welfare, Debt, Housing, Legal or Employment) along with an up-to-date training course in immigration law which covers each area of work you are applying for. Completing your own application to the Home Office or applications on behalf of friends or family will not be considered sufficient as work experience.
