The CPQ Framework is the route provided by CILEX to become a CILEX Lawyer. CILEX has designed a shortened route for graduates with an LLB or GDL which recognises the skills and knowledge they will have already achieved from a law degree. This route is referred to as the CILEX Graduate Qualification (CGQ).
The CGQ allows graduate trainees to enter the CPQ framework as a ‘Advanced Paralegal’, at the Advanced stage enabling them to begin specialising in their chosen practice area immediately. There are two stages to complete the CGQ.
A graduate trainee will complete modules aligned to the area in which they wish to qualify, practise and achieve authorisation. The pathways available are:

CILEX Graduate Qualification (CGQ) is only for learners who have an LLB Law Degree or GDL and seek to join the CPQ Framework as a CILEX Paralegal on their route to becoming a CILEX Lawyer. A CILEX Lawyer is a CILEX member who has completed all three qualification stages of the competence based CPQ, which includes compulsory Ethics and Professional Responsibility modules, and gained a minimum of 2300 hours relevant legal experience.
Note, in addition two Ethics and Professional Responsibility eLearning modules are required to be completed as part of stage 1 for each pathway. Ethics and Professional Responsibility modules are accessed via myCILEX. Upon registering for CGQ with CILEX, both Ethics and Professional Responsibility modules will be available.
The modules are e-learning with integrated assessment. Each module includes a final summative MCQ assessment which should be completed to pass. The modules may be taken at the trainee’s own pace; there are no time restrictions.

CILEX gives an indication of reasonable Total Qualification Time (TQT) which is the number of hours of study that you could reasonably be expected to undertake to achieve the learning and assessment outcomes.

The overall amount of time the course takes will vary from learner to learner however with a total of 30 months course access you can study at your own pace. You will also have the flexibility to decide on the exam sitting date that will be best for you, whilst also considering the registration window ahead of the assessments.
CILEX Membership: To enrol on to CILEX Graduate Qualification (CGQ) you must first be a member of CILEX. Learners registering for the CGQ will be required to register as a CILEX Advanced Paralegal member. This is separate to the requirement to enrol on our course and is not included in the course fee.
CILEX Registration: Once you have joined CILEX as a member you will be able to register for the CILEX Graduate Qualification (CGQ) and pay a fee to CILEX. CILEX will then provide access to your myCILEX account. Included with the registration fee are the following features (as applicable to the stage):

For individual self-funding learners, the prices shown on this page are inclusive of VAT at the applicable rate. A VAT breakdown will be on your invoice/receipt. Where courses are purchased and invoiced to employers or organisations, the fees shown are exclusive of VAT, and VAT will be added to the invoice at the prevailing rate.
Law Training Centre accepts PayPal as a payment option. A link to PayPal will be provided on your invoice when you sign up for a course. PayPal is a secure card processor and allows you to use your debit or credit card to pay, you do not need to have a PayPal account to use this service.
