Steps to qualify
The Mazur ruling highlighted the importance of clarity around who is authorised to conduct litigation. This qualification provides the academic foundation required under the CILEX Regulation New Education Standards, and the course is designed to support you as you progress through the remaining steps needed to obtain full practice rights.
To qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive Litigator (Criminal Litigation), you will need to complete the following:
- Step 1: Complete the Criminal Litigator Qualification
- Step 2: Apply to have your Qualifying Experience assessed
- Step 3: Compile a portfolio of work demonstrating competencies
- Step 4: Compile a portfolio of work demonstrating litigation experience
- Step 5: Submit an application to become a Chartered Legal Executive Litigator (Criminal Litigation)
With the flexibility of on‑demand study, the Criminal Litigator Qualification can be completed alongside work, allowing you to accrue Qualifying Work Experience at the same time. Throughout your studies, the course provides structured guidance and academic support to help you prepare for the subsequent steps in the CILEX Regulation authorisation process.
