Law Training Centre joins Cardiff Met University and Council for Licensed Conveyancers in new initiative to support law students

Law Training Centre is pleased to be working with Cardiff Met University and the Council for Licensed Conveyancers to allow university students to graduate with CLC Probate Technician status through the Probate Technician Initiative.

This new initiative will see Cardiff Met BA Business Law students completing two additional elements alongside their degree:

  • SQA/CLC Level 4: Understanding accounting procedures for probate transactions
  • 6 months work experience in relevant employment (in a probate practice, legal firm or organisation offering probate services to the public)

To support students through this initiative, Law Training Centre will be providing access to the Level 4 CLC accounting unit as well as offering help in finding work experience placements for learners where applicable.

Upon completion of the extra unit and work experience, Cardiff Met students will be able to graduate with an extra vocational qualification on top of their law degree, enhancing employability and providing a competitive edge when applying for graduate roles.

As part of the initiative, the BA Business Law students will be able to access the additional unit through Law Training Centre’s interactive online learning environment with flexible, on demand content. They will also have the opportunity to continue their studies with us to go on to qualify as a licensed probate practitioner via the CLC Level 6 Diploma in Probate Law and Practice.

“Employability was my number one priority in designing this programme, especially given the increasing competitiveness, not to mention regulatory pressures, within the legal sector. Working with the Council for Licensed Conveyancers and Law Training Centre, our participating students can graduate with new and highly valuable skills, offering real benefits to future employers.” – Dr Richard Lang, Director BA(Hons) Business Law and Management at Cardiff Met University

“We are delighted to be working with an innovative university like Cardiff Met on this initiative to develop and help the Probate Practitioners of the future qualify in this area of practice that is experiencing increasing demand for qualified lawyers.” – Dino Dullabh, Law Training Centre Co-Founder
