IMPORTANT INFORMATION: As part of the introduction of the CILEX Professional Qualification (CPQ), registrations with CILEX on the CILEX Legacy Level 6 qualifications have now closed. If you are already registered, you can continue studying a CILEX Level 6 qualification until November 2026 when the last assessment sittings will take place. You will have the right to transition to the CPQ framework at any time during this transition period. What will I receive in a Law Training Centre CILEX online course?

For each unit you study, you will receive:

Access to course materials and support until the end of the last examination window (November 2026)
Unlimited tutor support and your queries answered within 48 hours on working days.
A step-by-step study plan, setting out a suggested programme of study for your unit.
Pre-recorded lectures covering learning outcomes for each unit and the key legal points that need to be studied to ensure your success in the exams.

Which textbooks should I use?

CILEX recommended texts by Oxford University Press. Full list including statute books here. Learners can use any textbooks for their CILEX courses provided they meet the required level at which they are studying.

Law Training Centre students benefit from substantial discounts – up to 25% – on Oxford University Press (OUP) textbooks. These are available via the Oxford University press Law Training Centre web shop. Login provided upon enrolment.

Law Training Centre students can also purchase access to OUP’s Law Trove at a 10% discount for either full access or access to subject collections.

How are units delivered and assessed?

Our supportive distance-learning model provides a flexible approach to studying CILEX units. It blends the best of e-learning, enabling you to study at your own pace, with unlimited support from our experienced tutors.

Exam format: Except for the Professional Skills units, all CILEX units are assessed via an exam that can be taken in January and June of each year (note last exam sitting is November 2026 for any resits). Exams are taken remotely via online proctored exam – matching the flexibility that our supportive online learning environment provides throughout their qualification journey.

Exam fees: CILEX requires learners to pay the relevant fee for each exam they enter, regardless of which training provider they study with. Details of fees can be found here.

Please note that prior to taking the exam, CILEX requires that candidates must have studied each relevant unit at an accredited centre.

Overseas students are welcome, but please note that overseas students must make exam arrangements in their country or residence. They must also get approval from CILEX directly and well in advance – please see the Overseas Student’ tab here.

Who are your tutors?

They are law lecturers and practitioners with a wealth of experience in the legal sector. They include CILEX Fellows, Licensed Conveyancers, Solicitors, Barristers, Chief Examiners and Assessors, University Lecturers, and Law Book Authors with related subject experience. They have been trained to deliver our courses in an interactive and engaging manner.

Why do I need to deal with both CILEX and Law Training Centre?

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) is the membership and awarding body for the CILEX qualifications. It sets, runs, and mark the exams and issue certificates. CILEX also sets the membership fees and associated charges for qualifying.

The Law Training Centre is an accredited CILEX study centre. Only accredited study centres can deliver training that allows you to enter the CILEX exams and qualify. Law Training Centre is your training provider and delivers tuition for your CILEX studies, and the support you need to pass your CILEX exams.

Law Training Centre accepts PayPal as a payment option. A link to PayPal will be provided on your invoice when you sign up for a course. PayPal is a secure card processor and allows you to use your debit or credit card to pay, you do not need to have a PayPal account to use this service.

What will I need before I get started?

To study your online course, you will need the following:

How do I enrol?

Law Training Centre accepts applications throughout the year so that learners can start when it suits them most.

You can complete our CILEX enrolment form here.

To ensure your enrolment is processed as quickly as possible, please make sure that you read the form carefully, and fill out all the required boxes. If you need any help or have questions, please contact us on 0330 088 8495 or [email protected]

What happens after I send my enrolment form?

Once received, your enrolment will be processed by our Student Services Team. If there are any queries at this stage, we will contact you.

Invoicing:
We will issue your invoice according to your chosen option – either self–sponsored or firm-sponsored. If you are paying by instalments, a separate Direct Debit mandate email will be sent out for you to complete online, you will need to set up both the Direct Debit and complete the initial payment. Once the invoice has been paid (or the Direct Debit set up if applicable) please notify us by return email.
Payment options:
You can pay by bank transfer to our account or by card using the payment link on your invoice. Cheques are accepted and your course login will be made live once the cheque has cleared into our bank account.
Course Login:
Once we have processed your payment and the 14-day cooling-off period has passed or has been waived, please allow up to 2 working days from the invoice being paid to being emailed your course login.
