Tracy Fox’s path to becoming a Licensed Conveyancer hasn’t followed the traditional route to law, but has allowed her to balance a successful career with her home life and ongoing studies. Having pursued an LLB at university later in life, Tracy sought a career that would offer both financial stability and professional growth. “I went to university later in life, in my 40s, and then changed career totally and went into conveyancing,” Tracy explains. And it was this interest in conveyancing that eventually led her to study with Law Training Centre.
For Tracy, the decision to take the CLC Level 6 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice wasn’t just about career progression – it was a practical choice that fit into her busy life. “The advantages of doing the CLC online has meant that I’ve been able to fit it around my work life, but also my personal life, so it’s allowed me opportunities to fit it in around my time scale rather than a forced time scale,” she shares.
With a full-time job at a law firm and family responsibilities, finding study time can be a challenge. However, Tracy’s determination has kept her on track throughout her course: “It’s been difficult…finding extra time in the evenings and weekends when you’ve had a full-time job. It can be quite tiring. I’ve had to be quite focused and disciplined”.
Tracy first heard about Law Training Centre through her employer, Swiitch by Shoosmiths, who not only introduced her to the CLC qualification but also provided financial support. “They were prepared to fund and offered an opportunity for us. And that meant that we could pursue the role and get the qualification that we would like.”
The flexibility of the course allowed Tracy to progress at her own pace, a key factor in managing both work and study.

When asked about what she enjoyed most about the course, Tracy highlighted the value of the structured learning tool available: “The features of the course that I found the most useful were the revision flashcards, the revision classes and the learning outcomes”.
As Tracy finishes her course with her final modules, she highlights her confidence that once completed it will greatly enhance her career prospects, and she looks forward to achieving her goal of becoming a qualified Licensed Conveyancer.
