I started out in my career as a legal secretary ten years ago – I rather fell into it by accident, as prior to that I had actually worked as a teacher, but something was missing for me and I also wanted to pursue the higher earning potential of a career in law. Since making that change in my career pathway (and moving from Germany to Belgium in the process!), I have worked in a variety of law firms as a legal secretary.

I discovered the NALP qualification whilst searching for a regulated certification to help me stand out from other legal secretaries and I also liked that it would enable me to advance to becoming a Licensed Paralegal. I did a lot of research and, whilst lots of providers offered paralegal courses, NALP was the one that had the Ofqual recognition I was looking for. I knew it was a qualification that would be recognised and appreciated amongst my peers and also my employer.

I discovered Law Training Centre whilst I was researching my options, and was impressed with their competitive price. I also found their customer service very helpful and they were quick to respond to my enquiries – in contrast to some other training providers who didn’t even acknowledged my email!

I was very impressed with how clearly structured the Law Training Centre course and resources were. It was easy to navigate, as I always knew which learning outcomes each section related to, and I never experienced a single technical difficulty or issue with the learning platform. This was particularly important to me as I was studying from abroad.

I am a very independent learner and so I appreciated not being tied to any group work/assessments, and being able to study in a way that suited my own learning style. I was able to listen to the lectures on my way to and from the metro, and I also found the flashcards very useful. When it came to revision, I liked that I was able to print the topic summaries to work through too.

I liked being left to get on with my studies, but when I did need tutor support for an assignment that I struggled with, the tutor responded very quickly, within 24 hours. The exam booking process was also made extremely smooth for me – I was impressed with how efficient Law Training Centre were the whole way through.

I funded my course myself, but my employer reacted very positively to my having completed the qualification. I think it went a long way to demonstrating my motivation and commitment, which they find very valuable.
