Different Stage Learners - SQE1 Prep Resources’ Benefits

Law Training Centre’s vision and supportive learning environment guide our learners and give them the high-quality tools and resources they need to take the initiative and succeed.
Those who study law know that there is just far too much information to be contained within just one book, and because of this, there has never been a substitute for additional reading when studying law.
Our SQE1 Prep course is designed to condense and focus on the key areas that learners need to know, but also to signpost learners to the background reading that they need to succeed.
Our online resources, in the form of Law Trove and Practical Law, give our learners the tools to easily locate both the answers and the information that they need quickly, in a modern time saving manner, with freedom to learn at their own pace.
Law Training Centre’s approachable expert tutors will guide you throughout your learning journey, teaching you how to utilise these high-quality resources to your advantage and empowering you to further develop your legal knowledge.

Helpie FAQ
  • I’m a non-law graduate, what do these resources mean for me?

If you are a non-LLB student then you will gain considerably from Law Trove as the essential tool to achieve the fuller understanding of your legal subjects, such as you would get in your first year reading law at University. A further benefit to you is that this wide range of books is available to you digitally.

Practical Law is also used by those working within the profession in their daily practice, with most larger firms holding a subscription. It will therefore be of a huge benefit to you as it gives you access to the actual tools you will use in practice.

  • I’m a law graduate, do I still need these resources?

If you are an LLB graduate, Law Trove will consist of the postgrad content usually accessed within LPC manuals, which you will not have covered within your degree. This resource is also an essential tool for you to refresh the basics of law that you have already studied, as well as any changes to underpinning law since the time of your graduation.

As you will know, despite what publishers of manuals may promise, the sheer volume of material you need to refer to when studying law cannot be condensed into a single manual that will meet the needs for each student. Law Trove enables any LLB graduate to refer to all of their legal texts and sources digitally, at the click of a mouse.

Practical Law is also used by those working within the profession in their daily practice, with most larger firms holding a subscription. It will therefore be of a huge benefit to you as it gives you access to the actual tools you will use in practice.

  • I don’t have a degree but I work in law, how are these resources useful to me?

It may be that you have worked in law for several years, or that you already hold qualifications in other areas (e.g. CILEx, CLC, NALP, etc.). In which case, you will have a full practical understanding of your practice area. However, you will need access to the comprehensive background reading offered by Law Trove in order to familiarise yourself with those areas of law you will not be familiar with through your dealings with daily matters – for example Civil Litigation or Criminal Law.

Most of you will already be familiar with Practical Law, and the excellent resources that can be applied within daily practice. This means that if your firm doesn’t already hold a subscription for Practical Law, this tool will benefit both you and your employer as you continue to work and study!
