This course is specifically designed for those for whom the SRA has granted an exemption from sitting the SQE1, but would like to build on the Functional Legal Knowledge (FLK) required to successfully sit the SQE2. It provides the time and resources to build their FLK alongside their SQE2 studies within a single combined course.

Course features

This course combines our SQE2 Full Prep course with the specific SQE1 FLK subjects required to help you better understand and apply SQE2 concepts.

The fully online SQE2 Exemption Plus course by Law Training Centre prepares you for success with unlimited attendance to workshops run by experts in each subject area, your own 1:1 Personal Academic Coach, and a rich virtual learning platform with essential study aids.

Our SQE2 Exemption Plus course materials are expertly designed in accordance with SRA’s SQE2 specification, ensuring our learners have the highest chance of success in their final SQE2 examinations.

This course has a 15 month access period to allow for the combined study of SQE2 plus FLK content simultaneously.

The on-demand course materials and Video Library of previous workshops means that, no matter when you start, you will have access to the content and can move through the course at the pace that suits you.

Passplus Guarantee

Recognising that this is a high stakes assessment, SQE2 Exemption Plus by Law Training Centre fees include the exclusive Passplus Guarantee. This guarantees students’ course access and support for one additional attempt, should you need it.

The Passplus guarantee is up to a maximum period of 12 months of additional course access, allowing you to choose from a number of exam windows following the receipt of your result.

MCQs

A range of multiple choice questions (MCQs) to test your knowledge of the legal skills assessed.

Mock assessments

Mock exam papers for each legal skill within each practice area assessed on the SQE2 to test knowledge and practice the skills needed for this type of assessment.

Oral skills: Mock assessments for the oral skills elements are taken as a live assessment with a tutor specialist in the relevant practice area. This is a pre-arranged online appointment at a mutually convenience time, taking into account working patterns and other commitments wherever possible. After the live mock assessment has been completed immediate verbal feedback is provided followed by written feedback which includes specific reference to the skills required in accordance with the assessment criteria.
Written skills: Mock assessments for the written skills elements will be available for you without pre-arrangement to view and attempt at any time through our interactive learner platform. Tutor specialist feedback is provided on the attempt with specific reference to the skills required in accordance with the assessment criteria.

Workshop library

You can access previous workshops within our workshop libraries with two new SQE2 workshop recordings added each week.

You can also access and complete the tasks set in each SQE2 workshop at a time and pace that is convenient to you.

FLK content

Access to functioning legal knowledge (FLK) content to refresh your knowledge of the subjects covered in SQE1, required for the application of law in the SQE2 assessment. The FLK content includes e-learning/course notes, recorded lectures, multiple choice questions, and revision flashcards for the areas of law and practice for the following subject areas:

Live tutor support

Live workshops

Unlimited attendance at weekly workshops run by experts in each practice area. Four live workshops each week:

SQE2 Skills workshops consider a skill without focus on a practice area, although practice areas may be focused on for illustration. The legal skills assessed as part of the SQE2 may be addressed, as may other skills that will enhance your understanding of what is expected in practice, and complement other legal skills. These workshops are also an opportunity to consider exam preparation.

SQE2 Practice Area workshops each cover at least one of the legal skills for that particular area as a focus session, rotating through the practice areas assessed as part of the SQE2. The workshops include an analysis of a scenario question, a case discussion, and/or a focus on a particular area of the SQE2 assessment specification. Tasks to assess the legal skills required are set for completion and submission for feedback from tutors after each session.
FLK workshops review the FLK1 and FLK2 subject areas through case analysis, application to a scenario and/or through a multiple choice question. In consideration of multiple choice questions, the workshops assist in developing the skills needed to apply the legal principles so as to identify the best option for a legal situation. The review of scenarios and case analysis assist in the understanding of the areas of functioning legal knowledge required for the SQE2.

You can access previous workshops within our workshops libraries with a new recording for each SQE2 Skills and SQE Practice Area workshop, and two FLK workshops added weekly.

Skills and practice area forums

A monitored online forum where you can raise queries and interact with other learners on the course is provided for each SQE2 practice area and the FLK subject areas.

1:1 tutor support

48hr email response time from specialist tutors (Mon-Fri) to help with any course related queries provided for each SQE2 practice area and FLK subject areas.

Personal Academic Coach

Your 1:1 Personal Academic Coach will support you to stay on track not only providing academic support but also pastoral care, careers guidance, CV advice and guidance on how to balance studies and work life.

What will I learn?

With our SQE2 Exemption Plus course you will build on your Functional Legal Knowledge (FLK) with regards to the specific subjects required for successful SQE2 completion.

How do I enrol?

The Law Training Centre accepts applications throughout the year so that learners can start when it suits them most.

You can request an enrolment form by completing our form. Once completed, you will receive the form directly to the email address you provide.

What happens after I send my enrolment form?

Once received, your enrolment will be processed by our Student Services Team. If there are any queries at this stage, we will contact you.

Invoicing:
We will issue your invoice according to your chosen option – either self–sponsored or firm-sponsored. If you are paying by instalments, a separate Direct Debit mandate email will be sent out for you to complete online, you will need to set up both the Direct Debit and complete the initial payment. Once the invoice has been paid (or the Direct Debit set up if applicable) please notify us by return email.
Payment options:
You can pay by bank transfer to our account or by card using the payment link on your invoice. Cheques are accepted and your course login will be made live once the cheque has cleared into our bank account.
Course Login:
Once we have processed your payment and the 14-day cooling-off period has passed or has been waived, please allow up to 2 working days from the invoice being paid to being emailed your course login.
