Assesment Exams Announcement - Law Training Centre

Assessment/Exams Announcement

We would like to take this opportunity to advise our learners that the welfare of our staff, learners and the quality of our services are of utmost importance. We have already implemented plans for staff to work from home and several staff members have been working from home for several years with tried and trusted systems in place. Therefore, in the event the entire team need to switch to working from home, we expect that our learners will continue to experience the high level of customer service they are used to.

Our phone lines are operational, and we are here to take your calls, but to avoid call waiting times we would advise that email is the best medium for contact in the first instance. Both our academic and administrative teams are here to support our learners through this global event. We will be posting announcements and sending updates as we have them to keep you informed of exam arrangements and advice, support and guidance on how to keep on track with your studies during this time.

CLC Assessments
Level 4 Subjects: English Legal System, Law of Contract, Land Law, Standard Conveyancing Transactions, Law of Wills, Succession and Grants of Representation

This will continue as normal. We are still accepting online assessments for non-exam-based units. If you book an assessment and become unwell, we will be able to consider extensions. Please see the procedures for this in your induction within the Learner Area.

CLC Exams (Level 4 Accounts and all level 6 Subjects in the Conveyancing and Probate Practice Diplomas)

External venues suspended
Further to the news yesterday that the UK government is now advising that people should be avoiding social contact, and working from home if possible, our external exam centre provider (Kaplan) has suspended exams for an indefinite amount of time.

We cannot predict how long these measures will need to be in place and we appreciate that these are difficult circumstances. If this is going to affect your access period, please let us know.

At LTC Offices suspended
Considering government advice, we are suspending holding exams at our offices for the foreseeable future.

In-house at your law firm – limited availability
Due to the recent government advice to stay home, we know that you may now be working from home. If this is the case and/or you are unable to attend the exam due to the virus or self-isolation, we do need to be notified if you can no longer sit your exam. Please download an assessment cancellation form, we are also waiving the usual cancellation fees under the current circumstances.

You will have the opportunity to re-book at a later date without penalty. If this causes any issues with your access period, please let us know.

Provided you can do so safely, you may still sit your exams in-house at your place of work if your offices are still available.

At present it is business as usual for the Law Training Centre and we intend to continue as normal

Future options – online proctored (invigilated exams) to be made available
We are in the final testing stages of delivering online proctored exams, which would mean taking your exam at home/work on your webcam enabled laptop/computer. Whilst we do not currently have a firm date for proctored exams, we are treating it as a priority to minimise disruption to our learners.

NALP Assessments

This applies to learners on our Level 3, Level 4 and Level 7 NALP Diplomas.

There won’t be any changes to assessments and business will continue as normal. We are in contact with NALP and will keep you updated on any changes.
